I used smoking as a crutch - these words are true - smoking helps nothing. Smoking wants to kill you.
Smoking is nothing to me today!

We tend to think of it that way, and so often say that we used it as crutch... during stress... or nervousness... or grief.
The truth is that a crutch HELPS you through something. Smoking does not. Smoking only ever fills the need it creates (while adding more addiction at the same time).
Smoking does not help us through anything.
It never did.
And it never will.
When we get super-stressed that `need to smoke` flares up and makes us feel awful, on top of the stress. We then smoke and feel better. Our error comes when we interpret that `feeling better` because of smoking as having helped the stress. It didn`t. It only helped the `need to smoke`. P E R I O D. The stress remains unchanged. Think about it.... how on earth could a cigarette do anything? It`s ridiculous!
So try to see smoking for what it IS.
It makes quitting a hell of a lot easier.
Here`s a hint...
SMOKING IS NOT A CRUTCH.... IT IS A BURDEN.
